Anyone any idea on the state of the market for mid level tech jobs, I'm thinking for full time jobs but also for contract gigs?

We've heard the IT job market started picking up in Jan. Others seems to be reporting the same thing. We're hopeful!

Here in the midwest Ive been getting many more jobs from IT recruiters. All contract positions of course but seems to be picking up in the last few weeks.

Missy - yes the contract gigs are likely to be stronger as there are still a lot of restrictions on hiring, which means the IT Services industry will pick up the slack. My guess is it will be like this for most of 2010, although some areas, such as Information Security, ERP (SAP in particular) will be the brighter spots, along with eCommerce and web and mobile dev. There'll be headcount there, but those with those skills will likely command better rates as consultants.
